Biography

Mikis Theodorakis’ biography in English can be found on his official website and has been  written by Gail Holst. Before I bring you to the Theodorakis website first an introduction.

Curious as I am, always, I searched for information about Gail Holst on internet and was surprised to see that Gail is a woman! I found on Denise Harvey’s (publisher) website more about her:

“Gail Holst-Warhaft was born in Australia but has spent most of her life involved with Greece. She has been, at various times, a journalist, broadcaster, writer, academic, musician, poet, and independent scholar. In the 1970s, while carrying out research for two books about Greek music, she performed as a keyboard-player with Greece’s leading composers, including Mikis Theodorakis and Dionysios Savvopoulos. She is a Professor at Cornell University where she directs a program of Mediterranean Studies.” Read more…and more here… , and here!

She wrote the Biography on Mikis Theodorakis’s official website. Read…                    Biography Mikis Theodorakis, on Gail Holst’s own website. About TheodorakisFriends

"TheodorakisFriends" is the name of my YouTube-channel and was set up in 2009, with the intention to collect all exisiting quality videos about and with Mikis Theodorakis' work as a composer, and also with and about his activities in politics and social life, from the far past till the present. In the meantime many thousands of videos are organized in more than 207 playlists. In 2010 the groups on YouTube disappeared from the channels, also my group Friends of Mikis, with many posts. To be able to continue with publishing mostly amazing information about and from Mikis Theodorakis, became the reason for creating the blog TheodorakisFriends: http://theodorakisfriends.com/
