In “trash”: 55 posts

As explained on the homepage: I am cleaning up the blog. All posts from the start, January 2010 till half of 2013, about Mikis Theodorakis and his politics and acts, restarted in about the same time as my blog opened, are now in “trash”, in total 55 posts.

I do not regret anything. It feels excellent to start with another concept: Mikis Theodorakis, the composer, the musician. Only that.

A lot of his music though is mixed with his political views, his resistance against what he considers as injustice, and I agree with him completely in that for all choices, except the choices of the last years. More about this issue can be found on my homepage.

Music is universal, neutral, impartial.

It is possible to listen to resistance music and songs, without knowing what exactly made composers writing. Everybody, each single human being, has a personal reason to resist against something or somebody. Mikis Theodorakis’ music inspires, energizes, uplifts people’s mind. Two ennemies can sing the same Theodorakis song to express the emotions, anger, resistance, towards each other, or to express love for a beloved one in a Mikis Theodorakis love song.

This is the excellence of music, it does not make a choice about what is right or wrong, it is Justice in itself, and every listener senses that. Justice for all. Music for all. Love for all. Emotions for all. The reasons for emotions are for everybody different, the effect of the reasons is for the most of us the same. Music is the translator of the emotions.

Here, for instance, is the Red Army choir singing, with the same spirit as I would sing it, while I am against their leader, Putin. The Americans could sing it as well. Only possible when not knowing the lyrics, in this case, because they are really different than what I expected. Theodorakis has another idea about the words written by Yiannis Ritsos, than I have: I would create another melody. More peaceful. Listen to the power here, it is not creating the circumstances for “shaking hands”. Smiles are calm. Also swallows. You can find more about the lyrics in the next paragraph.

Lyrics of this song: Όταν σφίγγουν το χέρι

When searching for the song that is my personal “power” song, I searched for it in my playlists, and there it was: Όταν σφίγγουν το χέρι means: When they shake hands…………. I would never have expected these lyrics, these words, together with the sounds of the music.

When they shake hands
The sun is sure for the world

When they smile
A little swallow
Goes out of their wild beard

When they perish, when they perish
The life goes up
With flags, with flags
With flags and with drums

About "The Music of Mikis Theodorakis"

The blog "The Music of Mikis Theodorakis" started in 2010. The not-for-profit activities of the initiator were and are to collect, create and publish information about the MUSIC of the Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis via YouTube, Google+, Twitter, and this blog. Sources for this information are utterly strictly related with Mikis Theodorakis' Music only. The icon is a bouzouki. It is Greece's national symbol for freedom. During the Regime of the Colonels (Military Junta, 1967-1974) the bouzouki was forbidden. Mikis Theodorakis used this authentic Greek instrument in almost all his compositions, and Greeks were listening to Theodorakis's music in the underground scene, during the Military Junta time.
